Add a Cruise from Mobile to Your Gulf Shores Vacation

When Carnival Cruise Lines began operating out of Mobile in 2004 it saved a lot of travel time for those who live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. It is also much easier for Gulf Coast visitors to tack a cruise from Mobile onto their Gulf Shores vacation.

Since Carnival's Elation is the only cruise ship that leaves from Mobile, there aren't as many headaches involved in getting on and off the ship as there are in the more congested Port of New Orleans. (Though that could change. Mobile has been trying for several years to get more ships to Mobile). The Elation is one of the Carnival's smaller ships. Its capacity is 2,052 paying passengers.

Carnival Fun ShipThough there is something to be said for more choices and bigger ships, a smaller ship with easier access makes a short cruise more tenable for those with a few extra days to spare on their vacation. The four and five day cruises from Mobile are very reasonable. The last time that I checked the base cost for the four day cruise was as low as $219. That $219 buys mores fun that it probably would anywhere else. Cruising, if you can do it without traveling very far to get on the ship, is probably the most economical way to travel to foreign ports. Right now the port of calls are Calica, Cozumel, Progreso, and Yucaton, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Grand Cayman.

If you've never been on a cruise and would like to try it, a cruise out of Mobile might be an easy, economical way.

Shore excursions can add to the enjoyment of a cruise, but make sure you choose the right one for you.

Sadly, Carnival Cruise Lines is no longer departing from Mobile. Hopefully another cruise line will come to Mobile in the future.

It's a fact that cruise prices vary based on who's paying and what they know. Prices can vary wildly. Many cruise veterans know how to get discounted cruises and cruise activities and how to save money on shore excursions. Knowing these secrets can save you big money on your cruise. Click Here!
