Dew Drop Inn

by Celine
(Mobile, Alabama, USA)

There are few places that remind me of my youth like the Dew Drop Inn in Mobile, Alabama. There’s something about this place that is special and heartwarming. Maybe it’s the freshly fried food. Maybe it is the friendly staff and fast service. Maybe it is the fact that my parents took me there when I was young and it was always a treat.

Whatever it is, maybe a combination of all three, there is something about the Dew Drop Inn that keeps me coming back for more. The Dew Drop Inn is a restaurant located in Midtown Mobile on Old Shell Road. It serves traditional Southern food such as Po-Boys, and it always serves fresh seafood from our own Gulf Coast.

But don’t go there for the Po-Boys or the seafood – go to the Dew Drop Inn for the World Famous Hot Dog! The hot dogs and the hamburgers are superb, and at an incredibly inexpensive price, you can afford to take your family out for a sit-down dinner and not break your wallet.

Order some steak fries or onion rings – they are served hot and juicy and will leave you begging for more - if you manage to finish your order. The hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and onion rings are what American cooking is all about. This is typical diner fare but with a more family-friendly atmosphere. The fries and onion rings are hand sliced, so you know they are fresh!

The Dew Drop Inn also serves a small selection of beers, so you can have a few drinks to wash down your delicious dinner.

Oh, and if you are looking for nostalgia, don’t forget to order a Coca-Cola! All of the Coca-Cola’s at the Dew Drop Inn are served in a traditional glass Coke bottle. The Dew Drop Inn is a place that I have been going to for many years and a place where I will return as long as the food and service remain consistently excellent.
