El Paso Mexican Grill of Foley

by Shelly of Beach'n'River
Foley, AL

The El Paso Grill, located just south of Lowes off Hwy 59 (Gulf Shores Parkway) in Foley is the type of restaurant most can feel comfortable eating in. The restaurant shares a complex with a Japanese restaurant and has plenty of parking. You will notice nice details like a mosaic tiled floor as you enter. The walls are nicely painted with an interesting "peel away" stucco look revealing a faux brick. Both the colors and decor is pleasing.

The menu has everything from Dips and Quesadillas to Taco Salads to Vegetarian dishes to Fajitas and enough Mexican and A La Carte selections to please most anyone. I believe I counted 40 or more choices.

If you expect anything that tastes as though it comes from El Paso, Texas, however you will be disappointed. The guacamole is bright green, the salsa is made with dried seasoning and the tortillas are not handmade.

The food is very colorful and festive looking. Chips are multi-colored. Tacos are ground beef served in a brightly colored pre-fried corn tortilla shell and have a grated white cheese topping.

The chili rellenos are mild and stuffed with a mellow white Mexican cheese. The beef enchiladas are stuffed full of ground beef and are topped with a smokey tasting red enchilada sauce. The beans and Spanish rice are unexceptional.

Cinco De Mayo is around the corner. You may want to take your friends/family to El Paso Mexican Grill to celebrate while The Cary Laine Trio performs.

You won't find exceptionally good food at El Paso Mexican Grill but you will be able to please most in your party who enjoy an occasional Mexican meal.
