Fishing at Gulf State Park Pier

There is lots of great fishing to be had at Gulf Shores and some of the very best is at Gulf State Park Pier. The huge pier spans 1540 feet of the Gulf of Mexico and is a perfect saltwater fishing experience. I'd recommend it to amateur fisherman and experienced ones alike.
Though fishing at a lot of places in the area can get a bit pricey, fishing at the pier is very affordable. It's a comfortable place to fish, and it's easy to spend a whole pleasant day there. There are plenty of places to grab a quick bite to eat and take a break in between catching fish, and plenty of places that'll keep you in the shade when it's really sunny out.
One of the easiest fish to catch at the pier is mackerel, so I'd definitely suggest bringing along bait like sardines along with plenty of lures. I've also had a lot of success catching both trout and flounder there. For those, I'd recommend live bait, or maybe even a little mackerel! If you're not having much luck with the bait you've chosen, there is plenty of other bait for sale right at the pier. You can probably find something that'll get the fish biting.
If you're looking to spend a fun and inexpensive day fishing at Gulf Shores, you should definitely try the pier. You can't beat its price or its location. It's an easy place to catch a wide variety of fish. From catfish to ladyfish to bluefish, you're sure to have a great fishing experience.
