Gulf Shores Fishing with Friends and Family

Gulf Shores Fishing

Ever since my husband and I retired in 1999 we have been fishing constantly, whenever we have free time. We enjoy eating fish and have found catching our own to save quite a bit of money in these economic times.

We currently live in Pensacola, Florida and about once a week, usually on Saturday, we travel over to Gulf Shores to have a fun day of fishing. We usually travel with a few friends and use our boat to go deep sea fishing.

We start bright and early at about 5 AM and go all day. We bring a cooler full of drinks and food and just relax all day, laughing, listening to music and telling stories. Typically we catch about 10 to 20 fish, usually tuna and snapper, but sometimes we get a nice, big king mackerel. This can be quite a task depending on the size of the fish and sometimes it can require the strength of two people.

A few trips ago we caught a 30 pound tuna, which was quite exhaustive. After our trip, we take our catch home and have a giant dinner with our friends and family, celebrating all the work and fun we had that day.

Fishing is not only fun and exercising, it is a great way to spend time with friends and family. Fishing can be quite a challenge sometimes, especially with the afternoon storms that the panhandle typically receives, but in the end all the hard work really pays off at the dinner table when there is a nice plate of tune in front of you.
