The New Gulf Shores Pier Photos

The new Gulf Shores Pier is getting nothing but rave reviews from fishermen and sightseers alike. The size and scope of this pier can only be appreciated by visiting it, but until then here are some photos.

If there are members in your traveling party who don't like to fish, they might be entertained on the pier just by sitting in the shade and watching the activity for awhile.

Then they can sunbathe or swim at the beach while the fishermen in your party catch dinner.

Here's one of my favorite parts of the pier-- underneath in the shade. Yes, I like fishing from the pier better, but on a hot day this is a nice place to read a book or take a nap.

This isn't even all of the pier's length.

The pier has nice cleaning stations. This fisherman caught a pile of whiting and a nice flounder.

Plenty of room at the end of the pier for a crowd of fishermen-- and room enough for covered resting areas.

The end of the pier is octagon-shaped, which optimizes fishing space.

Notice the handicapped fishing area with lower rails.

This girl was yanking out the spadefish. I watched her catch a half dozen in about 20 minutes.

The pier also has extremely nice restrooms, much nicer than most would expect on a fishing pier. There is also a concession area which sells snacks, bait, and fishing licenses. If you didn't bring fishing tackle, you can rent it at the pier.
