Read About The First Hangout Festival (2010):

Hangout Festival Crowd and Beach

Trey Anastasio of Phish, the Flaming Lips, the Zac Brown Band, Alison Krauss and Union Station, John Legend, Michael Franti and Spearhead, the Black Crowes, Jerry Jeff Walker, Gov't Mule, Jakob Dylan and Three Legs, Keller Williams, Ben Harper. All of those musical acts and more will be at The Hangout and the adjacent main public beach area in Gulf Shores, Alabama, May 14-16 at the Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival. Over sixty acts will perform on four stages.

This event will kick off the summer music festival season and will become a regular event if successful. My prediction is the line-up that has already been announced will make this event a huge success. Country, rock, folk, reggae, gospel and soul acts will play the event, but it is the jam band acts Spearhead, Gov't Mule, Keller Williams, Ben Harper and Trey Anastasio that will draw people to the event who have never been to Gulf Shores. Jam band fans are loyal and will follow their favorites wherever they go. This festival could become "Bonnaroo with a beach view."

Attendance for the three-day festival will be capped at 35,000 each day. Three-day passes are $159. VIP packages start at $500. A limited number of single-day tickets will be sold for $82.

The event is being organized by Shaul Zislin, owner of The Hangout restaurant and the Surf Style souvenir stores in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. HUKA Entertainment is responsible for the musical line-up.
