Visit Lulus Gulf Shores for the Perfect Cheeseburger in Paradise

Lulus Gulf Shores is a "Do Not Miss" Alabama Gulf Coast Attraction

by Shelly of Beach'n'River
Foley, Alabama

If you are a tourist and want to experience the Gulf Coast state of mind made famous by the Jimmy Buffet song then you must ink out a half day to visit Lulu's at Homeport Marina located on the Intracoastal waterway in Gulf Shores, AL.

Did you read me right? Yes, I said a half day. I say that for two reasons: one) to provide you with a realistic expectation for time management and two) because Lulu's Restaurant is more than a restaurant --- it is a mega restaurant/amusement center/gift store/bar and nightly music venue. It is an all encompassing tourist attraction and a "Do Not Miss" on the hit list for the millions that pass through the Alabama Gulf Coast.

I love Lulu's Restaurant.

What's not to love? If you read the bio page on Lucy Buffett's upbringing, trials and faithful return to her homeland from one L.A. to her current Lower Alabama L.A. you will also fall in love with the "Crazy Sista." Her adage, "why be normal?" resonates true with this "off the beaten path" adventurer.

Here is what you will admire about Lulus the restaurant: you will admire the open air waterfront location. You will enjoy seeing tugboats move lazily along as you dine and you'll admire the docks placed conveniently accessible for boaters to come in off the water to enjoy a meal.

You'll learn Lulu thought of everything in terms of dealing with long waits --- there are sand playgrounds for children, outdoor Tiki bars to while away the hours --- there is lively music.

A marina full of big, expensive boats has manicured, landscaped sidewalks making it easy for your perusing pleasure. There are palm trees surrounding the huge grounds encircled with millions of tiny lights.

Did I mention music? You will hear music even as you walk from the parking lot to the host station. Never will you forget you are in a "Lulu's State of Mind" while visiting --- the reason you want to experience it. Right?

Here's the advice: Take wads of cash. A family of four can easily imbibe in several drinks while in the (up to two hour) wait line. Once seated they will certainly want appetizers to stave off starvation before the main course --- and a main course of burgers, fries and dessert can easily burn up a Ben Franklin.

So go to Lulus. Budget a day, or half-day, a day's earnings. Forget your cares, forget your troubles --- you are in LuLu-land in Gulf Shores, AL --- "a place to confirm Life is Good."

Lulus Gulf Shores is located just off Alabama Highway 59 at the Intracoastal Waterway and Homeport Marina.
