Perdido Beach Resort Photos

Just in time for snow bird season and after a multimillion-dollar renovation, the Perdido Beach Resort will reopen on January 8 at 4 P.M. Of the 346 rooms, 211 will get a make-over.

Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach is landscaped in lush tropical palms and plants.

The public isn't allowed on the sand dunes, but there's plenty of room to spread a towel on the dune side of the beach. The dunes were flattened by Hurricane Ivan in September 1994 and have been slowing rebuilding to this point. The dunes are what holds them beach in one place (as much as it possible to do that).

The rocks jetties at Perdido Pass are a good place to relax and watch boats, fishermen and sea life like shore birds and dolphins. The rocks are also a good place to fish. Species that are caught in huge numbers from the jetties include sheepshead, bluefish, whiting, white trout and flounder. Speckled trout, redfish and pompano also bite good at times.

San Roc Cay Marina is just across Perdido Beach Boulevard from the resort. In-shore and deep sea fishing trips can be booked at the marina, along with dolphin cruises and parasailing. Upscale shops and a wide variety of restaurants are in the shopping center.

Souvenir stores are within walking distance.
