Phoenix West Conditions???

by Cindy
(LaPlace, LA)

We are scheduled to stay at the Phoenix West July 15th. However, we are considering cancelling. Would love to hear some information from recent visitors concerning the beach conditions. Also, how crowded are the pools if people can't go in the water at the beach?

Phoenix West Conditions
by: Bill

I was on the beach over the weekend in the vicinity of Phoenix West. The beach was clean. (I did see some oil in Perdido Pass.) The previous weekend oil was washing up directly on the beach. It really just depends on what the current is doing.

Even though there was no obvious oil on the beach or in the water, double red flags were flying over the weekend, which means swimming in the Gulf is not recommended because of unsafe water conditions.

The pools are less crowded than they would normally be at this time of year, simply because there are less true vacationers. Many of those occupying condo units at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are workers cleaning the spill and support staff. Also there is a larger percentage of owners occupying their condo units - and they don't tend to get in the pools as much as renters, and that is especially true during all this.

Attractions away from the beach are less crowded also. There would have been no lines at Waterville on Saturday or Sunday.

Gulf Shores Beach Conditions
by: Anonymous

My family and I live out on W. Beach. We were out swimming in the beautiful clear water yesterday. There are some tar balls at high tide. They have not been bad, and the water has been beautiful most days. They have brought in loads of new sand to the beaches and have crews out every morning cleaning them. They are not crowded right now, which also makes it very nice and enjoyable. Can't tell you about the pool at Phoenix West, but our pool has been just fine. Not any busier than normal. Hope you come to stay, relax, and enjoy Gulf Shores!
