The Gulf Shores Steamer

A Delicious Catch We didn't go to the Gulf Shores Steamer for healthy food. The clue might have been in the name, but it never occurred to me at first that the "steamer" in the name referred to the food. I thought that it was a reference to an old and famous local ship. The waitress laughed when I mentioned it to her as she was serving my starter plate of twelve oysters. Never one to make a snap decision, I went with six steamed and six raw, brought fresh that morning from local markets. They were a real treat, but one that's worth spending a little extra.
Next up was a dish that I've been itching to try since I started watching the unlikely hit TV program "The Deadliest Catch." Alaskan Snow Crab on this menu has touches of humor written all over it. The item is marked as "The Best Legs in Town!" Well I won't argue with that, since the dish was full of flavor and the portion was generous. I'd recommend the place to anyone just on the strength of that dish alone, and all that was left was to order another glass of wine and what else, but a Key Line Pie.
Hard to believe looking at the seafood dishes, but some people don't care for fish and the Gulf Shores Steamer caters to them with what it calls their "Land Lover's" selection of beef steaks and chicken.
Gulf Shores Steamer is a friendly place, focusing on perfectly cooked fresh, quality seafood dishes served up in a charming no-frills atmosphere. I was advised to come back when the house specialty Royal Red Shrimp was available, not that I need an excuse to return after such a great night out.
