Wicked: The Life and Times of The Wicked Witch of the West

Have you enjoyed watching The Wizard of Oz year after year, or do you own the DVD and watch it ALL the time? Everyone knows the story of Dorothy, but Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire focuses on Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

Normally, I’m not into fantasy novels, but was hooked from the beginning with this one. We are initially introduced to the family of Elphaba and then get to know her as she grows up to become a woman. The author does a great job at making the reader emphasize and like the character that eventually grows up to be considered “The Witch.” It is definitely a page turner and I highly recommend it to all!
